The number one tip for any move is to make a list. It makes no difference how good your memory is, Brownsville movers will always be the first to tell you that things will surely be missed if they are not listed and accomplished as they appear. Moving is not easy, as a matter of fact it can get quite complicated so the place to start is buying a notebook and a pencil.

The lists:

You need one list of all those people that need to know you are moving. First you need to call Brownsville movers then the electric company, telephone, gas a cable companies need to be advised. Let the post office know your new address and arrange for your mail to be forwarded.

The next list will be what’s in all the boxes. Devise a system, maybe a series of letters and numbers, write the box content, which is really a packing list, on a label and affix it to the box. Your notebook will have a condensed version of the box contents or maybe just directions of what room it should go in when you arrive at your new home.

Supplies:

Gather you packing supplies; a good rule of thumb is to purchase a dozen more boxes than you think you need for last minute packing. You must also include plenty of packing tape and foam peanuts for packing your breakables. It is unwise to use newspaper as packing material, a good alternative to newspaper are pillows, they have to go anyway, and they may as well do double duty on the trip. This is something you will not have to concern yourself with if the Brownsville movers are also going to do the packing.

Cleaning:

Once everything has been loaded onto the van by the Brownsville movers, you will probably want to clean the house for the new owners. Make a cleaning kit that contains everything you need: rags, disinfectants, cleansers, rubber gloves, etc. Put everything into a plastic tote because when you are finished cleaning your old home, you can put the kit in the car and use it when you arrive at your new house.

Keys and documents:

Keep all the keys for both for the old house and the new one on a key ring; do not trust them to envelopes or your pockets, they are far too important to lose at this stage of the move. Give the old keys to the new owner or his agent and take the keys to your new home with you.
All important documents should be kept with you. Take everything with you, including your health cards in the event you meet an accident on the trip to your new home and need medical care.
