Whether it’s a one-room walkup in the lower city, or a beautiful penthouse suite, all apartments need cleaning at some point or another. However, due to its upscale nature, a luxury apartment may need more care and polish than your typical flat. While it may sound daunting, there are easy ways to go about this, like with cleaning any kind of apartment. So, if you live in one of the many luxury apartments in Chelsea NYC, and you want to know how to clean it properly and easily, here are some helpful tips.

#1. Polish your tile

Your tile may look spotless and impossible to get dirty at first, but (and this is doubly so if you’re using glass tile) it’s actually very easy to scuff, stain, or even break your tile finishes. As such, be sure to polish your tile backsplashes, floors and finishes whenever you plan to clean your house. Going too long without a good polishing can wear down your tile in no time.

#2. Carefully choose your chemicals for countertops

A lot of luxury apartments these days use quartz to make their countertops. Quarts is normally a very sturdy, tough material, but there are chemicals that do not react well to contact with quartz. Do your research and find out which are safe and which aren’t. Some won’t damage the countertop in the traditional sense, but others, like tea, will leave almost permanent stains if enough gets onto it.

#3. Mopping floors/vacuuming carpets

While cleaning floors used to require potentially harmful chemicals, now modern soap products have risen to the task, and provided safer solutions to cleaning your floors. Now, all you need is a bucket of water, add in a few drops of the dish soap you use, then spread it evenly across the floor via a mop. Make sure to put up warning signs to any other residents that you are mopping, to prevent either injury, or someone tracking dirt inside, setting your work back several minutes.

For carpets, simply research what kind of carpet cleaner works for you, and then apply it evenly across your carpet floor. Afterwards, vacuum your carpet until the cleaner and any dirt in your carpet previously is no longer visible. Cleaning carpets tend to be much simpler endeavors than mopping floors.

Cleaning a luxury apartment is not too dissimilar from cleaning a normal apartment, with notable exceptions. It’s just a matter of knowing how to keep your upscale living quarters nice and presentable. Follow these instructions and your luxury apartment will be ship shape in no time at all.
