In particular, it is the one that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of problems in the shape, position or relationship of dental structures. The function of Orthodontic Services is to prevent, detect and correct any dental problems in order to build and maintain a beautiful and healthy mouth. Common orthodontic problems consist of irregular bites, including over and under-bite. Through orthodontics, the dentist can correct the bite and restore proper functionality. The first signs of orthodontic care date no less than the seventh century BC, yet care has improved dramatically since then, especially in the past 20 years.

Types of orthodontic

There are two main ways in which the orthodontist can act on the mouth through fixed devices or removable appliances.

• The fixtures are composed of elements which adhere firmly to the tooth. The example that we all know is traditional braces.

• Removable appliances, however, may be removed from the mouth, allowing you to take them off during oral hygiene and meals.

• Cross bite: This happens where one or more of the lower teeth occlude externally to the upper teeth.

• Cover bite: This is where the upper teeth cover the lower teeth more than what is considered normal.

• Prognathism: This is a forward positioning of the tooth.

• Retrognathism: This is a delayed positioning of the tooth.

• Diastema: Excessive separation between several teeth.

• Collapse: Lack of space for the mandible or maxilla cannot properly accommodate all the teeth.
