There are a variety of ways for heating and cooling your home and many of these have seen popularity at one point or another. For instance, cooling a home with window based units works fine if the area is small or the homeowner has several of these appliances available. However, this method of house cooling can get very expensive if several window units are used at a time. Plus, the overall effect leaves something to be desired because this method of cooling doesn’t reach all portions of the home resulting in warmer areas that are uncomfortable to be in.
There is a similar problem when heating the building with portable electric heaters or stand alone gas based heater systems. They typically warm specific areas of the room leaving cold spots and even completely unheated rooms around the home. Unfortunately, the more heaters you install, the more fuel you burn trying to heat the home. Of course, you can get a bit of relief using fans to circulate the warmed air, but even this solution isn’t always adequate.
There is a solution though and it’s something that a lot of new homes have been equipped with. It’s called an HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) system. This appliance comes in two basic pieces with a series of air ducts to spread the treated air through the house. The A/C portion of the HVAC works by extracting heat from the home and forcing air over the cooled evaporator coil. This follows the basic principles of refrigeration and is a very effective device.
The heating aspect of the HVAC will vary depending on the home and your personal preferences. Furnace systems come in either gas burning versions, natural gas or propane, and electric versions. The gas based varieties are rather complex devices and the more efficient they become the more complex they are. In fact, some gas based varieties boast an efficiency in the high nineties without the use of an exhaust system. Electric versions are generally much simpler with an electric heating coil that warms air inside a heat exchange. Once heated, the air is then transferred throughout the home by a large blower. An HVAC system installation in Redmond WA can be easily installed in any home that has an attic or basement and contractors like Vacu-Man Furnace & Air Duct Cleaning can help.
