If you’re renovating an old house, you’ll need several types of professionals to bring everything up to current codes. Even systems that work fine will likely be obsolete and need to be replaced. In an old house, however, it is likely that any system in it will also have some faulty areas that need to be fixed. Therefore, it’s a good idea to call a multi-specialty service provider like Domain to inspect the house and fix anything that needs work.

One system that is sure to be involved is the plumbing system. Pipes that have been in place for decades are often made of iron or an iron alloy, so they will have become corroded inside throughout the years. These pipes can be completely or almost completely full of corrosion. If you turn on the water valves, open a faucet, and either get a trickle or nothing at all, this is likely to be the problem. Drains that connect to iron pipes can have the same issue, though in that case, the water that you want to get rid of might not go anywhere. Alternatively, a drain pipe may be corroded though and just let the wastewater pour out into the cabinets or onto the floor. Needless to say, if you have this problem, you’ll want plumbers to replace all of the pipes with ones made of new, modern materials.

Some old homes have already had their pipes upgraded at some point. In this case, you may get lucky and not need any plumbing work done. More likely, there will be some minor issues to deal with. Faucets may leak or the toilet may run at a constant trickle. Call in plumbers to fix these problems and to inspect the house for any hidden issues that may exist. Have everything that needs to be fixed taken care of so that you don’t wake up to any nasty surprises.

If your house is newer, you are unlikely to need to have major renovations done on your plumbing system. However, you may need to call a plumber to unclog your drains or to install updated fixtures. Most companies can easily handle this work, so you’ll soon have all of your plumbing and related elements back up to snuff!
