The traditional means for heating a home are heating oil, natural gas and coal. While natural gas is considered clean energy, both heating oil and coal can pollute the atmosphere when used as a heating medium. Biodiesel or biofuel is a clean burning heating product that can be made from used cooking oil, soybean or vegetable oil and from other fats. Using biodiesel not only is better for the environment, but it can prolong the life of heating systems because these fuels keep the heat exchanger in a furnace cleaner than traditional heating oil.
